Free Online Poll Maker

Ask a question, share a link, watch the results land. No account for voters, no app to install, no cost. Polls run in 30 languages with bot protection built in — and if your vote needs to be more serious than a poll, the same platform runs secret-ballot elections free too.

How to make a poll

1. Write the question

Add between 2 and 50 options. Let people pick one, or allow multiple answers.

2. Share the link

Send the link, or show the QR code on a slide or a noticeboard. Nobody needs to sign up to respond.

3. Watch results live

Results update as responses arrive. Show them to voters as they vote, or keep them to yourself until you close.

Poll or election — which do you need?

People search for a “poll” when they often need an election, and the difference matters the moment a result is questioned. The short version: a poll asks the room, an election asks a verified electorate.

Use a poll

  • Picking a date or a venue
  • Quick team or class feedback
  • Audience questions during a talk
  • Anything where nobody will dispute the count

Use an election

  • Electing officers or board members
  • Bylaw amendments and constitutional votes
  • Anything a member could formally challenge
  • When you need ranked choice, STAR or approval voting

Elections issue each voter a unique key, prevent double voting, and record the ballot with no voter identifier attached. How secret ballots work

Poll maker: common questions

How do I create an online poll for free?

Write your question, add your options, and share the link — that is the whole process, and it takes under a minute. Voters do not need an account, an app, or an email address. On the free tier you can run one active poll at a time, collect up to 100 responses, and the poll closes automatically after seven days.

Do people need an account to vote in my poll?

No. Anyone with the link or QR code can respond. Polls are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which filters out bots without making real people solve a puzzle. Because there is no sign-in, a poll is the right tool for quick opinion gathering — if you need to verify who is eligible to vote, use an election instead, which issues each voter their own key.

What is the difference between a poll and an election?

A poll is one question, open to anyone with the link, with no identity check — quick feedback, team decisions, picking a date. An election verifies eligibility: every voter gets a unique key, nobody can vote twice, and the ballot is recorded with no voter identifier attached. If the result could be disputed — officer elections, bylaw amendments, anything constitutional — you want an election, and TapVoter elections are free for up to 10,000 voters.

Can I make an anonymous poll?

Polls do not ask who you are, so responses are not tied to a named person. But be careful with the word anonymous: because there is no identity check at all, nothing stops one person responding twice from another device. If you need genuine ballot secrecy with verified eligibility — which is what most organisations mean by an anonymous vote — you need a secret ballot rather than an open poll.

Can I make a ranked choice poll?

Not as a poll — TapVoter polls are single-choice or multiple-choice. Ranked choice is available as an election method, along with STAR, Approval and Multi-Winner, and all five are free. If you want people to rank options rather than pick one, create an election instead of a poll.

What do I get if I upgrade?

TapVoter Pro is $4.99 a month or $49 a year and lifts the free limits: unlimited polls instead of one at a time, unlimited responses instead of 100, and a one-year duration instead of seven days. It also unlocks rating scales (stars, numeric, emoji, NPS, CSAT, Likert), image options, passcode protection, scheduled launch, website embedding, CSV export and PDF reports. The same subscription covers quizzes and surveys.
